| Impressive performance of the therapy horse |
Members of IWC Welfare Committee and of IWC Board visited the castle of Stutensee, an institution of the child and youth welfare service, on 14. October 2008. A wide range of welfare is offered like taking care of young people in open groups or like special help to avoid imprisonment. After careful consideration by the Welfare Committee the IWC Karlsruhe allowed the application to finance a horse to use for therapy. The visitors received an impressive performance of the horse in action.

| Celebratory event in the historic town hall |
The German American Day 2008 took place under the patronage of Thuringa's Prime Minister, Dieter Althaus, and of USA ambassador to Germany, William A Timken jr. Karsten Voigt, the Coordinator for German American cooperation of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs, was awarded the Lucius D. Clay Medal. The students of Karlsruhe who finished a one year stay in the USA, and all other exchange students were handed out certificates by the FDAC in the historic town hall of Erfurt. And the American students who are currently in Germany were welcomed. Members of the Board and of the Student Exchange Program and the Regional Chairperson represented the IWC Karlsruhe at this ceremony.
